What is Faith Promise
You may be wondering: what exactly is a Faith Promise? This fall, our Church will celebrate all the Lord has done outside the walls of our church, in our communities, and our world, through our Local and Global Ministry Partners.
In November of 2022, we made a collective commitment, above our tithe, to support these efforts, trusting in faith that God will provide what we promise to give throughout the year.
Below you will find some commonly asked questions about Faith Promise. If you have any questions not answered here, please contact our the Missions Team.
In years past, Homeport has supported our Missionaries by sending 10% of our weekly giving. As we sought the Lord’s guidance and direction regarding our missions giving, we felt the draw to change our missions support to a different model. Faith Promise offers all of us an opportunity to trust the Lord. It’s a chance to step out in faith and give above what we give through our tithes and offerings. I get it, stepping out in faith is difficult. We struggle to trust the Lord to provide in the future because we don’t know what that may look like. But when we look back at all the ways God has provided not just for us personally but how He has provided for all the generations before us, we know His promises for tomorrow are not going to dry up or change.
There is a passage in Matthew 6 where Jesus taught about worry and money. He pointed to the birds of the air, who never lack food to eat. He asks about the lilies in the field who Solomon’s splendor never compared to. Then He asks one last question: Don’t you think you mean more to God than they do? And if God provides for them, how much more will He provide for you? He ends with this amazing teaching moment in Matthew 6:33 by saying, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
This is what Faith Promise, and really all giving, is all about. God wants to provide for you. He wants to take care of your needs. He is more than able to sustain you as you give back to Him so that His work is being accomplished here locally and around the world.

So how does this relate to Faith Promise? What’s the difference? Your tithe is what you give to the church according to what you are able. Faith Promise is in addition to one’s normal tithe. It is sacrificial giving of what you do not currently have. It is dependance on God to provide what is needed. Passages such as 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 and 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 encourage giving cheerfully to a specific need in Jerusalem, according to what they were are able.
During the the Missions Banquet in November, we will collect Faith Promise commitment cards. You will fill out a commitment card to indicate the amount you feel the Lord is calling you to give to support our missionaries. Though anyone can make a commitment throughout the year.
You can give cash in an envelope and write Faith Promise on the envelope so we know where to direct your gift.
You can give by check and write the Faith Promise amount in the Memo line.
Or you can give your commitment online. You can select Faith Promise from the drop down menu that says "Fund" or you can give it with your regular tithe to the General Fund by clicking the button that says "Add Donation" and selecting Faith Promise in the added donation line.
