We are praying for volunteers that can help us provide an AMAZING and ENRICHING church experience for all the children and youth at Homeport. We need the help of incredible volunteers just like you each week. We believe that pouring your heart into our kids will create the next generation of faithful believers ready to keep sharing the teachings of Jesus to a world that is lost without Him.
We have volunteer opportunities in our 4 main Children's and Youth Ministry environments:
Under the Sea Nursery (6 weeks - 2 year olds)
The Lagoon Preschool (3 - 5 years old)
The Shore Elementary (K - 5th grades)
Elevate Student Ministry Leaders (6th-12th grades)
The Buildings and Grounds Team are volunteers who are able to work inside and outside the church building. Maintenance of the inside of the building is cleaning, vacuuming, moping, dusting, general pick up and straightening, as well as repairing of minor items that break or notifying the office when necessary.
Outside the building is in need of mowing, trimming, weeding and pruning. Equipment is here at the church but knowing how to operate the lawn equipment is a plus. Major malfunctions will be directed to the proper company for repair. This is the accordion body content. It is typically best to keep this area short and to the point so it isn't too overwhelming.
The first people new guests see are members of our First Impression Team. The friendliness and welcoming spirit a guest feels when they come to Homeport is a huge part of whether they will decide to come back and join us again. We want Homeport to be a place known for friendly atmosphere where everyone belongs and you can help us accomplish with your service on the First Impressions Team.
Greeters & Lobby Hosts
Most churches are utilizing a team of Greeters who welcome guests and hand out bulletins, these people who are quick with a smile and a handshake and can point people in the general direction of the auditorium, coffee, or restrooms. We also want to incorporate Lobby Hosts into the welcome equation.
Responsibilities of Lobby Hosts include:
- Super friendly
- Super welcoming
- Super knowledgeable
- Know the difference between Nursery (6 weeks old to 2 years old) and Preschool (3 years old to Kindergartens), and Elementary ages (1st through 6th grade)
- Escort visiting family to each child’s assigned room − Introduce the family to the teacher(s)
- Escort guests to the auditorium and hand them off to an Usher
Ushers
-Welcomes every person who comes through the auditorium doors (if possible get down on the child's level to welcome them)
- Help locate open seats for the size of the family or group
- Seat regular attenders up front
- Seat Guests in open seats in the rear of the auditorium first, then as the gathering fills up closer to the front as needed.
As we are singing the last song of the gathering all the teams will need to return to their positions. As people leave the auditorium Ushers will shake hands and thank everyone for joining us today, and let them know if they have any questions a Lobby Host will be at the Information Table to help them.
Parking Lot Team
With a well-trained parking lot ministry, you can quickly fill and exit the church parking lot in an orderly fashion. The importance of this team goes far beyond proper cone placement. The parking lot team is crucial as most people decide whether or not to return to a church within the first 6-10 minutes of entering the campus.
Parking Lot team needs to recognize when a family gets out of their vehicle with kids and should point them to or walk them to the appropriate rooms for Nursery (6 weeks to 2 years old), Preschool (3 years old to Pre-Kindergarten), Kids Worship (Kindergarten to 5th Grade). Both the Nursery and Preschool rooms are in the main building and Kids Worship is located in the Modular.
The Hospitality Team are responsible for preparing Communion and making the coffee on Sunday mornings.
Each Sunday morning these volunteers set up Communion and preparing the emblems on the tables, as well as, make sure all the coffee condiments, cups, napkins, stirring spoons are available on the coffee bar. Greeting new members/guests with information about serving themselves coffee and in general being helpful to any quest who needs assistance.
Volunteers will also be available to assist when there are meals on the grounds, setting up tables, ensuring that there are cups, glasses, napkins, flatware, salt/pepper, sugar, etc. out and available for attendees.
Security Team
In this day and age we need volunteers to patrol the parking lot and grounds of the church while our members are worshipping. These volunteers need to be able to recognize suspicious behavior and communicate this information with the proper authorities. They should also be a deterrent to any vandalism or destruction of property.
